"We are taking COVID-19 very seriously at Dancing in the Wings. There are so many unknowns about this disease, so it isdifficult to tell what is the "right" thing to do. All I know is that when I look back on this ten years from now, I want to be able to say that I did too much - not that I didn't do enough."
Each dancer and staff member will be given hand sanitizer when they enter the studio and throughout class as needed. Dancers will be asked to wash their hands with soap and warm water if they cannot use hand sanitizer.
All staff and assistant teachers will be required to wear a face mask while in the studio. Staff also go through temperature and health screenings before each class.
Right now, due to local case levels rising, all dancers ages 5 and up are required to wear a mask while in the studio.
We are implementing ways to ensure that dancers stay spread out to allow for social distancing during class. This includes tape lines on the floor, using spots to designate places for dancers, and using chairs as designated break areas.
Typically, our staff will use their hands to help dancers find the proper placement of their arm or to help them lift their leg in a stretch. We are limiting hands on corrections during this time and staff are sanitizing their hands often.
We will use a disinfectant wipe to sanitize each dancers belongings before they enter the studio. We ask that dancers only bring their water bottles and shoes into class at this time.
Each dancer will be assigned a chair around the studio where they can put their belongings. During water breaks each dancer will go to their chair to ensure that they can practice social distancing while removing their masks to have a drink.
